SNEC-AFS Student Associate Fisheries Scientist Certification Award

Award:
The full cost of applying for Associate Certification in AFS for a student member of the Southern New England Chapter. An applicant who satisfies coursework requirements but has insufficient or no experience may become an Associate Fisheries Scientist. Prior to applying for this award, applicants should write for the AFS Professional Certification Program Packet that contains information on certification requirements and an application. These materials can be obtained by writing or calling AFS headquarters at the American Fisheries Society, Suite 110, 5410 Grosvenor Lane, Bethesda, Maryland 20814-2199; phone 301-897-8616. Applicants should be familiar with the requirements for certification before they apply for an award.

Qualifications:

  1. The student is one of the first four to apply in any year (applications must be received by April 1 for processing by the summer meeting and by October 1 for processing by the winter meeting of the same year).
  2. The student is a current AFS member.
  3. The student attends school in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Rhode Island.
  4. The student has made a presentation at a SNEC Chapter meeting.

Award winners will be notified by mail and recognized at the Chapter AFS meeting.
